I don't know of any means of getting the entire .dat without either copying from the retail CD (unlikely given your current location) or simply letting the client run at the login screen.
Depending on the availability of the wireless connection, you could just leave your computer on overnight. Even at DSL-like speeds you will likely get all the data during that timeframe. |

The Guild Wars installation CD/DVD contains the file, but because there are always updates you still need to download. The most complete GW.dat file currently available can be found at the Eye of the North prerelease pack DVD.

Yes. I get all that. But, currently werein port and its just so damn slow DL'ing the thing thati wish there wasa simple place or wayto download the entire file without having to go thru the wait with Arena. LimeWire has all virus infected files. I tried to open it as a file in word or notepad but its to large.
I was hoping to be able to divide it into a few smaller files, then "pzzle" them back together and re-save it as a .dat file but my friends cant seem to be able to do that. if any one knows a way to do something or that nature, I would be much oblidged, V/R PSSA Curar |

I found the easiest thing to do is get hold of a Nightfall DVD which contains most of the older ingame content, and then download the rest of the .dat file using -image.

You can ask your friends to split the file with a program like Winrar and then let them send you the individual pieces.
